Speaking Through Art: Part IV - Sound of Music continued...

There is music...
an then there is music as  a r t.

I think there is a  -  difference  -  between the two.

There are songs that you can listen to, sing along and relate to...

& then there are those that completely consume you that you can't help but become a part of it.

This is what Damien Rice does with his music.

Every note he has written is one breath that he has taken in his life.

I have yet to find another artist that replaces my breathing with sound more than he does.

I have mentioned him before on my blog but for those of you that have missed out on the experience, this is for you.

I think the best word to describe his music is: RAW
Anytime you listen to his music, you feel as if you are living the experience with him. He's not afraid to take you with him and he does it in such a way that you're not afraid to follow.

I had the incredible opportunity of seeing him live at Massey Hall and i can definitely say that there was never any other point in my life where music moved me to that degree.
I was completely drowning in his sound, and his sound is his soul. He rips himself apart in his music and isn't afraid to do so. He cuts himself open and lets everything flow out in the most beautiful way possible.

He's bleeding with elegance in a way that honesty seems to be not enough.

Throughout the whole concert it felt like he was ripping my soul out of me and using it in his music. I have never felt a connection like that in my entire life.

An artist is an artist if they have the ability to make you feel that way.

I promise you that this will change the way you appreciate music as an art.

Put yourself in a space where you can focus and have the volume on high.
It's worth it i promise.
