His soul is his music and his music is as raw as an uncooked piece of meat
and in the heat of his boiled emotions in his performance and his willingness to be naked in front of his audience = lights the match within me and i find myself in the same boiled state as him.
This connection, i feel, that i have with him...this constant boiled state of emotion...seems to cook this "raw piece of meat", this "soul" of mine. Nearly every one of his songs possesses the feeling of what it would be like to throw yourself in a sizzling skillet of hot oil.
The beauty with him is:
he's willing to throw himself in...
and in front of the whole world.
I had the amazing opportunity of seeing him in concert a few years ago and i deemed it one of the most emotional experiences in my life. And that's no exaggeration. I was hyperventilating and sobbing 90% of the time, and it didn't help that it was in Massey Hall either. The sound was as clear as a crystal and i'm sure, during the moments that his performance was at peak climax, i could have shattered a crystal chandelier with my screeches and cries. I think the song that shattered my soul the most during that concert was a song called "I Remember". He performed it for 25 minutes, i'm pretty sure.
Oh yes, Damien....i do remember quite well how it all went down. You sang, and i died.
One last thing!
I'm a firm believer in tying experience with music. Music is an experience, don't you think? It is CRUCIAL that any song of Damien's is listened to in a very quiet space, on full volume, and enjoyed until the verryy end.
The endings are always best...because with great endings come even better new beginnings.
I promise you will not be the same after watching this.
